|02:59 am - Lessons in Comm Management|
Lesson the First: If you are going to start a new character based comm, don't start it for a character that already has a comm with 350 members.
Lesson the Second: If you do start a comm challenging another one, don't make a post advertising it in the other comm.
Lesson the Third: If you are going to advertise in the other comm, don't
bitch about that comm in the comments of your own post.
Lesson the Fourth: If you are going to advertise your comm in even more other comms, make sure they are in the same fandom.
Lesson the Fifth: If you are trying to get pimp your comm everywhere, don't be surprised when people from other comms comment.
Lesson the Sixth: If you are trying to get "like 1600 members", don't bash ships - like, say, Doctor/Rose/Jack - when you have advertised in a comm for that ship - like, say, better_with_3 (post since deleted).
Lesson the Seventh: If you have gotten your friend to make you a mod of a comm, don't bash the ship the comm is design to appeal to in the comm's very first post.
Lesson the Eighth: And, if you're going to ignore all of these lessons... well, just make sure you have enough popcorn for everyone who likes a good comedy of errors.
Here endeth the lesson.
ETA: And guess which comm mods have been wanked for an entirely different matter? I think we have a new comedy sensation.

Those twinks want 1600 members? Last time I bothered looking, they weren't anywhere near the size of the current Martha comm, much less able to challenge T&C.
Though I assume that's an exaggeration, their current membership? 14 people. Whilst the other Martha comm is 350, and T&C is over 2000.

Exactly. I'm assuming that there will be a groundswell of interest in the Martha comm(s) when the character is actually *seen,* but all the same, anyone with a minimum of LJ-fu (and a preference for actual discussion instead of self-congratulatory wanking and generic "Let's talk! Clicky!" posts) isn't going to find it hard to figure out where to go for what they want.
That they're advertising in a wide variety of off-topic comms AND then dissing the membership/interests of all the comms they're pimping in makes me pretty sure that the mods are putting the clueless into "clueless teenagers."
Like the way our Ianto comm now has almost 600 members? *gives a slightly terrified flail*
But yes, very much a case of clueless going on there.

Well, who knew Jacanto would be the hot pairing when we're supposed to be rooting for Owen, according to the scriptwriters?
I was utterly shocked, to say the least.
I had to comment on the ship bashing. (got here via a link on fandom_wank btw) I mean, asking why people ship couples with canonical kisses and flirting is a... very special sort of idiocy.
I believe it's the "I don't like it, therefore it can't exist" approach. See also the reaction to Ten/Reinette in Doctor/Rose circles.
I like how comedy is punny. Maybe it made the whole post for me, maybe it was the popcorn. *g*
At the moment, I think it's the online equivalent of a slapstick duo.
I enjoyed this a lot. Thanks. =)
As someone mentioned above, they have put the "clueless" in clueless n00bs.

They're at it again!
It's so clueless, it's almost adorable.

Either clueless or desperate to be on fandom wank, I'm not sure which.
