11:55 pm - Of Fandom Stupidity and Utter Fury.

Fandom is getting wanky yet again. And whilst hugely entertaining, it also starting to grate on a few of my nerves. *mutters about bloody Harmonians*

To go into detail: a certain big name Harmonian had a minor freak out when her sister got sick of hearing about the cruel, cruel non-believers mocking her ship. So said sister set up an LJ dedicated to telling off (in rather coarse terms) both the BNH and my dear HMS STFU.

BNH had a minor breakdown, and declared she was leaving the fandom. Less than a day later she was back, with an exciting new essay. STFU reported this here.

Starts out fine. A bit of mockery, but not to wanky. Then another prominent Harmonian (who is oddly fascinated with out comm) turns up, explaining why he likes Harmony. Certain people take umbrage to some of his comments. The ship war is on.

He gets offended, accuses the comm of being anti-H/Hr. Lots of fierce debating, from both him and others.

Still trying to justify himself, he comes up with an epic, three comment essay on why Harmony is Teh Best Thing Ever, and why HBP was effectively a Weapon of Mass Thematic Destruction of the HP books.

It's a shockingly wanky, biased entry, but the very worst part of it in my opinion is this one terrible, condescending, prejudiced remark:

As far as I can tell, R/Hr and H/G shippers usually don't think this way or don't read the stories for symbolism/thematic structures and overarching life lessons.

I am outraged. And slightly wanky, but still...effectively calling a large portion of the fandom immature and illiterate really grates.

No response as of yet, mainly because the offensive individual was offended by the reception he was receiving, even after insulting things like that. So he has swanned off, leaving everyone to gape.

Also, found a rather interesting meme, and thought I might share it with you lot.

Rather accurate, don't you think?

And now I am bored. Shall go look at my David Tennant pictures. Mmm, pretty...

Have the Harmonians ever stopped wanking?

...And that sounds a bit dodgy. Sorry!

They're Harmonians. Of course it's dodgy.

I mean, look at Fandom_Wank. So much Harmonian stuff, it would be annoying if they weren't so entertaining,

Thus, in a sense you could say that H/Hr is the series for me, since if it goes, then all the themes of the HP series I saw go with it.

So basically, what you saw in it was Hot!Boy must have Hot!Girl or the world ends in Evil Wizard?

The logic is obvious.

Quite. I just need to hang upside down and look at it in a mirror and it makes perfect sense.

Or maybe that's just all the blood going to my brain.

It's like Da Vinci code logic. Complete and utter CRACK dressed up to look sensible. And still failing horrible.

Oh, you don't like that book either?

I find it not half as bloody clever as it thinks.

No, I don't like it. It was okay to start with, then it just got nuts. And if you read Dan Browns other books, it gets worse - they're all the freaking same!

Oh, I read the Angels&Demons one and boggled. Throwing yoruself out of a plane and having sex with a yoga-vixen with brains? Um, right.

It is a bit WTF, Angels and Demons.

I mean, they are okay in a trash fiction sort of way, but they aren't in any way good or anything.

How they got to be elevated to high literature, I'll never know. THat's really what annoys me, I think. I've read worse, but everyone squeeing over it makes my teeth ache.

Luckily, most people I know dislike them. I mean, my Mum has all Dan Brown's books, and my sister has read A and D and Da Vinci Code, but they'll both admit that it is trash lit.

My mum has those two as well. I think she likes them. And she's a librarian. I weep.

My Mum's not, but she is in a Book Club (where they read highly literary, and generally quite boring, books). Still, she also likes thrillers. And John Grisham.

And Harry Potter, so I'll forgive her.
